This final class will describe the importance and basic components of a risk management plan, quality program and safety program. It will also describe the importance of and methods for establishing good project team relationships. We will cover factors to consider when preparing for project start and the components of the 7 steps of scheduling. We will describe methods for effectively managing change and finally, we will describe the project closeout process.

This session will focus on properly managing and retaining employees. We will cover the importance of proper documentation, the components of a good job description and how to use it to assess potential candidates, how to assess interview questions against EEO laws, and describe the importance and components of an effective on-boarding process. We will also discuss best practices for motivating and retaining employees.

This session will begin with explaining the importance of a job costing system and how you should be tracking job numbers, materials and paper flow. We will then cover certified payroll and tracking budgets, cash flow and cash flow strategies, change order management and AIA billing.
Insurance & Bonding

A discussion on how to identify, plan, manage, and minimize the risks involved in contracting a project, in order to make a profit and avoid litigation. Participants will work towards the solution of an “issue” during the course of the evening.
Estimating & Bidding
Facilitated By: Joe Phelan & Erik Bengtson
This session focuses on the estimating, bidding and buy-out of a project and the tools, strategies and procedures involved as well as potential pitfalls. The first session will focus on Estimating and Purchasing concepts, strategies and tools as well as the importance of subcontractor relations and how to maximize value on the project.
